Bravo Academy Performing Arts began in a church basement and gained popularity thanks to the incredible dedication and passion of Artistic Director/Owner Melissa Bencic. In the late 2000s, Bravo expanded to a portable space. When Bravo's lease expired, the decision was made to create a new facility on Samor Road in North Toronto.
In 2016, starting with a raw space, bhive design developed the concept and plans for the studio. The facility includes a reception and waiting area for the energetic performers, a small central office for two, a large walk-in closet for backpacks and coats, six small studios for private voice and instrument lessons, two larger performance studios, two bathrooms, and a staff lounge—all designed to be barrier-free. The new facility opened in early 2017 and continues to thrive.
"On a personal note, I am very proud to have contributed to this project, as my children have benefited from the incredible talents of the staff for over 10 years. It’s a truly wonderful and creative place"! KB
"Working with Karen is an absolute dream! She took time to listen to our needs and preferences, then went above and beyond in every way imaginable. She was able to maximize our use of space, create a design that still looks brand new even at 7 years old and with hundreds of students running around each day! She magically was able to find a way to balance our dreams and budget and create a space that we never imagined possible.
